What are Skill Pills?
Skill pills are short-form modules designed to deliver workplace learning in a quick and accessible format.
They are delivered through your LMS using relay files, allowing learner progress and completions to be tracked securely and consistently.
This article explains what each file is, how the files work together, and how they are typically used.
What's included
A standard Skill Pill package typically contains:
- Stub files (SCORM packages)
- Course thumbnails/images
- Metadata spreadsheet
Stub Files
Stub files contain the SCORM packages to be uploaded to your LMS.
Each file represents an individual course and is usually provided as a .zip file.
Example
These files should be uploaded directly into your LMS and should not be edited manually.
Thumbnails
Thumbnail files are the images displayed on the learner dashboard, and are typically provided as PNG
Each thumbnail corresponds directly to a course listed in the metadata file.
Example

These images can be uploaded to improve learner experience and course visibility.
Metadata File
The metadata file is typically supplied as a Excel or CSV document.
This file acts as a reference and helps identify which files belong to which courses.
The metadata file may include:
- Course ID
- Stub file name
- Course title
- Course description
- Thumbnail
- Tags
- Learning objectives
This allows you to match the course to the correct stub file, and it's corresponding thumbnail.
Whitelisting
To ensure Skill Pill content launches correctly, your organisation may need to whitelist these domains:
- training.skillpill.com
- skill-pill.com
