Spark's Line Manager functionality allows a manager with the appropriate permissions to view training activity for one or more linked users. Users can also be linked to managers across multiple organisations.

How to add line manager permission to a user
To add Line Manager permissions to a user, follow the steps below:
- Locate the user account for the manager in Spark.
- Click on the Personal details & account tab.
- Click on the Account & permissions tab.
- Set the Line Manager permission to Yes
- Save the changes to the manager user's account.
How to link users to a Line Manager
To link users to a Line Manager, follow the steps below:
- Locate the account for the user in Spark.
- Click on the Personal details & account tab.
- Click on the Account & permissions tab.
- Select the desired Line Manager from the drop-down menu.
- Save the changes to the user's account.
Line Manager reports
When a user has the Line Manager permission activated, they will see a 'Line Manager Report 'option in the menu when they are logged into Spark.
Clicking this menu item will take the manager to a report showing any training allocations for linked users. If managers have large amounts of linked users, they can filter data.
Line Manager notifications
Line Manager notifications are automatic emails or texts that are sent to Line Managers to keep them informed of training allocation and completion for users which are linked to them.
To configure Line Manager notifications, click on 'Notifications' within the 'Settings' tab.
Click on the 'Line manager notifications' tab.
Click the button to create a new Line Manager notification.
Line manager notifications may be configured in the same way as other training notifications.
Automated reports will be sent to Line Managers matching the specified reporting criteria.
