Some training can be set up to require facial recognition software. This will assist organisations in verifying that the user assigned the training is the person who is accessing and completing it.

Due to operational changes resulting from COVID-19, many businesses have opted to use Facial Recognition software in lieu of attending in-person verified group sessions.
If users are unable to access the technology required for this, then a classroom option may be required by your organisation. A Training Centre may grant approval to turn off this feature for individual users in exceptional circumstances.
Key Requirements for a Good Facial Profile
Good Lighting
Make sure the user is taking photographs and accessing the training in a room with adequate lighting. Poor visibility will impact how well the recognition software is able to use their webcam to detect their presence, and may cause identifications errors that stop them from continuing with their learning.
Reflections
Reflective surfaces can obscure key parts of the face used to identify a person in recognition software, such as glasses reflecting a bright screen.
If possible, please remove you glasses during the phase where the system takes the photos for the Facial Recognition profile setup.
A Range of Angles
A good facial profile should include the user's face in a range of different angles, to ensure the facial recognition software is capable of identifying the user consistently. These photos should include the user tilting their face up and down, and to the left and right.
A good example of a Facial Profile is where the user has adequate lighting, no reflections, and a range of angles across all of the photos taken for their Facial Profile.
A poor example of a Facial Profile is when the user does not have adequate lighting, may have reflections, and has several or all photos showing their face at the same angle. This kind of profile will likely disrupt the user as they try to access their assignments and learning.
Resetting the Facial Profile:
As a manager, you have the ability to remove the current Facial Profile for a user so they can create a new profile of images.
- Navigate to the User's account in Spark.
- Open the "Personal details and account" tab.
- Select the "Facial Profile".
- If the user has a poor Facial Profile, this may be the cause of issues with their training. Click "Invalidate facial profile" to remove the current facial profile.
- Advise the user on good techniques for setting up their Facial Profile.
- Ask the user to log in to access the training again. The system will prompt them to create a new Facial Profile.
Validating a Profile Image
In order for a User to complete their training and receive a certificate, they may require to have an approved User Photo before the completion will be verified, which is something that can be completed by a Manager.
- Navigate to the User's account in Spark.
- Open the "Personal details and account" tab.
- Select "Personal Details".
- Scroll to the mid-section of the options to view the Photo section. If the user has a Photo "Pending approval", it has not been approved and is waiting to be addressed by a Manager.
- If the photo matches the user of the account, click "Approve".
- Once the Photo is approved, the user will be able to successfully update their training as complete and/or access their certificate.
