The Sponge Spark LMS system (*.boltspark.com) and the Ignite authoring tool (bolt.boltignite.com) experienced an unexpected outage, which resulted in end-users receiving error messages (Gateway timeout errors & 504 errors) and having difficulty accessing or distributing training content. This affected all Spark LMS or Ignite clients.

Spark & Ignite access was restored approximately 10 minutes later.

Investigation established that Google maintenance on the following services was the root cause of the outage.
- Google Cloud Networking
- Google Compute Engine
These incidents are being investigated by Google engineers and maintenance has been paused whilst this takes place.

Google Confirmed that the Google Cloud Networking incident had been resolved.

Systems remain stable and Sponge DevOps have been adding server resources to counter or limit any further impact from Google's maintenance. Monitoring and resources are in place to react to any further impacts to service today or over the weekend.
Spark email services used for distributions are not hosted on Google's platform and were unaffected. No failures to send content to users have been tracked in mail logs.
